Hi!
It’s Shira here.
Welcome to my booking calendar! Let me tell you a bit about myself, so you know who will be treating you at your upcoming appointment.
My Education: I graduated from the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy in 2022 with my Masters in Practice in Osteopathy. It is an amazing, 4 year program with a world class education. Before that, I graduated from York University with my BSc in Kinesiology.
My Why?: When I was growing up, I seemed to constantly have aches and pains. Eventually, I was diagnosed with scoliosis and even though I wasn’t quite extreme enough to need a back brace, they gave me one because I was in pain. Unfortunately, the brace didn’t help the pain and I tried to come to terms with the fact that I would continue to have constant, low grade pain. In 2018 I started getting regular treatment from an Osteopath. It was the 3rd treatment when she was assessing me that she said, “you’re moving much better- how’s the pain”, to which I answered, “ what pain?” I couldn’t believe that I hadn’t even noticed how good I was feeling. Now when things start to catch up with me every 6-12 months I go for a tune up, and otherwise, I feel better than I could have imagined in my teens.
My goal: I want to change the perspective on pain. Pain (when used correctly) is a gift. It is a symptom that things aren’t quite right. It is a motivation to change, to get help, to do something, before things escalate further. My dream is that people seek help and get treatment before one problem becomes two. My dream is that people are able to do the things that make them happy, stay active and feeling young for as long as possible. My dream is that it’s no surprise when a grandparent gets down on the floor to play with their grandchild and gets back up with ease. You live in your body for your whole life. Let me help you make it the most comfortable home for you for as long as possible.
